Established in 1918 Oy Perkko is an import and wholesaler specializing in watches and jewelry. It is part of the Finnish-owned Nurmi-Yhtiöt Oy. In addition to Perko, Nurmi-Yhtiöt's business includes Matex Oy, which sells and manufactures men's accessories, and Koneboss Oy, a wholesale and retail business in the industrial and repair industry. Nurmi-Yhtiö's largest industry is real estate development.
Oy Perkko's selection includes the company's own brands, Finland's most famous watch Leijona and Voutilainen x Leijona, as well as a comprehensive selection of other world-class watch brands such as Seiko, Casio and GANT. Perkko has operated as a manufacturer of Leijona watches since 1919, other brands imported by the company have foreign principals. Perkko's watches are sold through an extensive dealer network.
Perkko's watch selection includes many different brands and different watches for different purposes. Some of the clocks are timekeepers with basic functions, some are smart clocks, and there are also home clocks. Watches can be very different from each other, some have a lot of functionality. Perkko maintains product information in Finnish and English; Adeona PIM plays a key role in maintaining product information..
"At Perkko, product information management has been put at the center. Among other things, our desire is to harmonize the product information, regardless of the product, so that all our products have the specified product features and materials available to our customers. We will also invest in making it easier to enter the product data and manage it using PIM's functionality," says eCommerce Manager Katri Mäenpää.
Products and product information available to customers quickly
Katri Mäenpää works at Oy Perkko as one of the main PIM users. She is also responsible for the marketing and online store of the Leijona brand, the development of the BtoB store and is the leader of the marketing team.

At Perkko, the product managers update the product information in Adeona PIM and ensure that it is up-to-date in the system. Information that is maintained is e.g. information about the watch's mechanism, water resistance, case and bracelet materials and color information. There are pictures of all products in PIM; in addition to basic product images, most of the products are also available with mood images for marketing the products.
The marketing team ensures that the necessary product materials are available in PIM, i.e. for example the above-mentioned images and ready-made advertising templates. Retailers can use these materials when marketing their own range locally. Images are easy to find in Adeona PIM with the help of clear folder structures and good search tools. It is possible to distribute different levels of material to different stakeholders according to user rights.
"We are trying to think about what are the relevant product information for both retailers and the end consumer of the product, which should at least be found in PIM. The background materials from the different principals contain information in very different forms, which brings its own challenges to our product information management," Katri sheds light on Perkko's situation.
Perkko's product information management project was started by setting clear goals for it. Perkko wanted to manage product information centrally and systematically in one place, and in addition, the following goals were set, among others:
- Transfer of images and product descriptions to electronic services.
- Up-to-date brand-specific catalogs available.
- Improving inventory circulation.
- Increasing sales.
- Cost effectiveness.
- Enriched, high-quality product information, product images and other material automatically from online stores to catalogs.
- Partners receive high-quality product information and other materials from one channel.
"With Adeona PIM, we can update information faster and make products available to customers. The information goes from PIM to the BtoB online store, which is an important source of information for retailers. From there, the retailers select the products for sale and, of course, orders are also placed through our sales representatives. Ordering from the online store is easy and the retailer can place the orders at the time they want."
In addition to the online store, Perkko needs catalogs to support sales, which are updated several times a year when the selections are renewed. Today, Perko's PIM has integrations in addition to the online store for EasyCatalog folding automation, with which it is possible to quickly prepare current catalogs with the correct product information.
Product information is central to operations
High-quality and comprehensive product information plays an important role in Perkko's business: the company wants to be a reliable partner for retailers so that to do business is easy. The prerequisite for digital commerce is that the product information is entered into the system centrally and then the channel in which the products are displayed is selected.
"Product information management is in a strategic position for us, as data is at the center of today's operations. The product information management system is not just a technical solution, it is a significant part of the organization's strategic decisions, which steers operations e.g. online and other digital services. Enriched product information is an important asset. Managing it is essential in order to implement our strategy in electronic channels. PIM has increased productivity, response speed and helps create streamlined customer experiences."

Katri has been using Adeona PIM for more than a year, some of her colleagues longer. Katri has also participated in the activities of Adeona Community, through which you can hear the experiences of other Adeona users. She feels that Adeona can be contacted with a low threshold.
"Collaboration with Adeona has been easy and pleasant. You get a clear answer to every question right away, and possible problem situations don't have to wait for a solution for a long time.
