A little over a year ago, Prevett Oy started a PIM project. The PIM system was sought for help in maintaining product information, because the information was scattered in different places and updating it was laborious. Adeona PIM was selected as the centralized product information management system, and has been in use since the spring of this year.
- We have around 6000 products and 60 different suppliers. It saves a lot of time as we no longer have to update information in multiple places, says Prevett's Selection Manager Suvi Järvinen.
Everything for animal welfare in one place
Prevett is a domestic veterinary wholesaler that focuses exclusively on animal welfare. Prevett's customers are veterinarians and clinics all over Finland. The company's goal is for customers to easily get all the products they need from one place.
The product range consists of medicines, supplies, supplementary feeds and food needed to maintain animal welfare and treat diseases. The range takes into account the needs of different animal species and the wishes of customers as comprehensively as possible. The range includes products from suppliers in several different countries.
Adeona PIM system makes product data maintenance easier
Prevett's product range has been constantly growing. Previously, product information was located in several different places, such as ERP and network drives. Retrieving and updating product information was very time-consuming. To make things easier, it was decided to purchase a PIM system and the Finnish company Adeona was chosen as the supplier.
Suvi Järvinen is responsible for the entire Prevett product range. She has been involved in developing Prevett's online store and maintains product information.
In addition to Suvi, the IT department and marketing have been strongly involved in the PIM system implementation project at Prevett.
- The aim was to centralize product information in one place. With Adeona PIM, maintaining and enriching product information has become faster. The information is updated in a centralized place and I can trust that the information is correct and up-to-date, describes Suvi Järvinen about the advantages of the current situation.
Adeona PIM has also made it easier to categorize online stores. Categorizing was previously managed through ERP, which was tricky. It is more agile to create new categories in PIM and it is also easier to place products in different categories. This makes it easier for customers to find the products they want in the online store.
Centralized and enriched product information has helped develop Prevett's online store by improving product discoverability. Comprehensive product information is seen as a differentiating factor. Customers search for a lot of information about products in online stores, and the more easily comprehensive product information is available, the easier it is for the customer to make a purchasing decision.
PIM's versatility helps the entire supply chain
Pending Changes feature of Adeona PIM has helped that customer service can help with product information maintenance. Prevett's customer service pharmacists and clinic veterinarians have a lot of expertise and knowledge about the products. In urgent situations, they help enrich product information and with the Pending Changes functionality, updated information is sent to Suvi for review.
Through PIM attributes, various search filters have been added to the online store, allowing customers to search for products using more specific search criteria than before, which has improved the discoverability of products.
- The most feedback so far has been about the new categories, which make it easier to find products. Additional filters will certainly be more useful in the future, as customers become familiar with these functionalities, says Suvi.
- Sometimes suppliers want to know what is written about their products in the online store or whether there are any pictures of them. PIM makes it easy to get lists for suppliers and, if necessary, they can also correct their own product information in the sent Excel and return it to us. We receive the updated information directly from Excel to PIM, continues Suvi.
Prevett creates campaigns for its customers that are visible in the online store. With the help of PIM, it has also been possible to partially reduce the manual work of the campaign process.
Adeona Community – ideas from other users
Suvi has participated in Adeona workshops, where ideas from other users can be discussed about how to utilize PIM. Although different industries have different needs, the ideas can still be applied to one's own work.
- It is useful to hear about other people's experiences and get ideas for your own work. The collaboration with Adeona has gone really well. Problems or questions are answered quickly. When PIM was being built for Prevett, it was great to get ready-made ideas from Adeona that could be useful to us or make our work easier. Suggestions were brought to the table without us having to know everything ourselves, says Suvi.
Prevett Oy is a strongly growing domestic wholesaler specializing in veterinary medicine, part of the Vetcare Group. The company's turnover in 2024 was approximately 31 million euros and it employs 18 professionals in the field.
