ETIM International publishes ETIM xChange, a new form of product information transmission

ETIM International's new product information transmission format ETIM xChange will be published at the beginning of the year, currently expected on 19.2.2024.

ETIM International's new product information transfer format ETIM xChange will be published in early 2024. Its purpose is to further standardize the transfer of technical product data between systems. At Adeona, we are monitoring the situation and preparing to find out what the new format means for our customers using the current BMEcat format.

The new format ETIM xChange version 1.0 will be published during the first quarter of 2024, most likely on February 19.2.2024. The most important points of ETIM xChange:

  • The first ever product information exchange standard focused on global use.
  • A format fully managed by ETIM International and its community.
  • Based on the European Master Data Guideline (EMDG), but the project team has also taken into account other well-known product data exchange standards. (DICO, BMEcat, FAB-DIS).
  • Uses the GS1 standard GTIN to identify products.
  • JSON-based format.
  • Includes comprehensive documentation.

ETIM develops and maintains a unified product classification for technical products. For each product category, the most important technical characteristics have been defined, which can be used to determine the product and, on the other hand, to find a product with exactly the right technical values.

The standardized product information structure enables accurate and unambiguous transmission of product information between different applications, which increases the quality of product information and facilitates the transmission of product information in the supply chain.
